Underlying Factors and Outcomes of COVID-19: A Retrospective Study

Background: COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Older age, male gender, chronic diseases, cardiovascular diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, kidney and liver disease, Immunocompromised conditions, malignancies, excessive obesity, disabilities, pregnancy are risk factors for illness or death in patients. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the results of medical care affecting recovery patients hospitalized three hospitals affiliated with Islamic Azad University Tehran/Iran. Methods: a retrospective study, information obtained from files records unit hospitals. The was conducted on 1255 covid-19 3 Tehran Medical Sciences. In using researcher's checklist. checklist included demographic findings variables related severity immune status, underlying systemic consequences disease. data analyzed SPSS. Qualitative were frequency percentage. chi-square test used examine relationship between variables, logistic regression employed assess this relationship. Results: following items significantly more prevalent those who recovered: Compliance home quarantine, dry cough, positive CRP, presence ground glass opacity images CT scan. Moreover, evident died: High headache, myalgia, arthralgia, weakness, fatigue, insomnia, hoarseness, purulent sputum, lobar pneumonia, low Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), seizures, anemia, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), increased prothrombin time (PT), decreased serum albumin, crazy-paving all above items, P-values ≤ 0.05. Conclusions: It suggested that symptoms, signs, conditions commonly seen cases dying should receive frequent monitoring care.
